2026 rings in another accomplishment for Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric, as a Denver Top Workplace for the 14th time. This year, Applewood ranked 22 out of 62.
“Applewood’s success and impact would not be possible without our amazing employees,” says Josh Ward, president of Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric. “To be on this list again is an honor I know my employees deserve because they are the heart of this company.”
Applewood has been in the Denver Metro area for more than 50 years, providing service to more than 350,000 customers with more than 175 employees. Applewood’s strong community presence is part of the reason for its placement as a Top Workplace, along with employee survey responses.
Employee feedback highlights the benefits that Applewood provides:
- No on-call shifts
- 100% medical premiums paid for employees and their families
- Tuition reimbursement programs
- 401K plan with company match
- Dental and vision insurance
- Life and disability insurance
- Paid holidays and vacations
- Excellent growth potential
- Fully stocked trucks, supplied uniforms, and field support
- Year-round work
- Ongoing training
- Employee appreciation events
Outside of employee culture, Applewood is celebrated for its community engagement. Applewood’s “Caring Community Giveaway” is a quarterly financial commitment to employee-nominated Denver nonprofits. Applewood donates to, and spotlights, different nonprofits each quarter, having contributed more than $350,000 in donations. Applewood is also known for supporting local town events, youth sports, and community festivals.
“We also have an in-house apprenticeship program that is nurturing the next generation of trade professionals,” Ward said. “We are fully committed to the communities we serve and creating a culture that embodies strong ethics and best practices for our employees and customers.”
There are several requirements for an organization to be considered for the Top Workplace award. The company must have at least 50 employees in Colorado. Winners are selected based on their workplace culture scores, including pay and benefits, direction, leadership, meaningfulness, and employee appreciation. Applewood’s involvement on this list reflects a people-first workplace, according to the surveyors.
