Which Problems Can a Sewer Line Camera Inspection Identify?
Sewer cameras, when operated by trained professionals, can identify potential plumbing problems early on and save you money and headache later. Here are common issues they detect:
- Broken, Cracked or Collapsed Pipe: Damaged or older pipes that require repair or replacement.
- Offset Pipe: Sewer pipes that have become misaligned.
- Blockage: Grease build up or foreign objects get lodged in the pipe that restrict proper water flow.
- Corrosion: Sections of pipes that have deteriorated and collapsed, restricting water flow.
- Bellied Pipe: A section of the pipe that has sunk, creating a valley that collects paper and waste.
- Leaking Joints: Seals between pipes that have broken, allowing water to escape into the area surrounding the pipe.
- Root Infiltration: Tree roots that have punctured your sewer line.
- Off-Grade Pipe: Old pipes that are constructed of substandard, outdated, or deteriorated material.
Our Sewer Line Inspection Process
During a sewer line inspection, a licensed Applewood technician inserts a high-resolution video camera called a “sewer scope” into your home’s sewer system. As the technician pushes the flexible fiber optic cable from the drain access through the pipe, the camera feeds live video to a closed-circuit tv.
Using this technology, our experts can diagnose broken lines, tree roots, clogs and any other plumbing problems your sewer line may have. It also provides an overall picture of your sewer line’s health so you can anticipate repair or replacement down the road. If you do need to replace your sewer line, the sewer scope inspection will pinpoint the section of pipe that needs to be replaced so that we can expedite the process.
