Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric is kicking off their 2021 quarterly Caring Community Giveaway Monday, February 8th. This quarter Applewood employees nominated organizations who provide mental health support, as Colorado’s suicide rates are among the highest in the United States.
“With so many people struggling with their mental health, we felt it was important to support programs in this area so that the communities we work and live in have the resources they need,” said Josh Ward, owner of Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric.
The Giveaway will donate $5,000 to an organization voted on by the community. Voting will start February 8th at 12:00 p.m. Individuals can submit one vote per day on Applewood’s Facebook page (@applewoodPHE) or via the website at https://www.click5dev26.com/. Voting will close February 19th at 12:00 p.m. The organization with the most votes will receive the $5,000 donation.
The three organizations nominated by employees are Building Warriors, the Community Reach Center and Second Wind Fund. Each of these local organizations provides financial and medical assistance to individuals in our community who are struggling with their mental health.
Building Warriors is a peer run nonprofit organization formed in 2016 devoted to providing direct services and training to support emergency responders and those affected by traumatic experiences. Their core values include strength of will, purpose, heart and soul.
The Community Reach Center, helps address and treat patients’ experiencing depression and anxiety, grief and loss, substance abuse, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia. They serve more than 22,000 residents statewide with individual, group, family and couples counseling.
The Second Wind Fund works specifically to decrease the number of suicide deaths in children and youth by removing financial and social barriers. At-risk children, ages 19 and younger, are matched with a therapist in their local community. Financial resources are available for those in need.
